CP Cumru is where the Belt line around Reading diverges from the "turkey path", the line running from CP Cumru to CP Bird. This line goes to the Dyers quarry, one of only a couple of sources for NS ballast. CP Cumru itself offers some very good photo opportunities, including the Upland Street bridge. On occasion a eastbound train will be held at CP Cumru to allow a westbound to pass over the single track but this is a rare event due to low traffic density.
On any given day you would expect to see approx. 15 trains past CP Cumru. This location can provide some nice photo opportunities if a train is in the area.
CP Cumru is located off of route 10. Take route 422 east to Lancaster Ave exit. Make right then hard left at light onto route 10. After going under railroad bridge make hard left. Upland Ave. bridge is accessed by making right on Upland Ave from route 10. See map for directions.
