Turkey Path

Overall Ratings

Train Density - 1

Accessibility - 3

Photo Opportunities - 2

The Turkey Path is the line that runs from CP Cumru to CP Bird. The line is mainly used to usher ballast trains from the quarry at Dyers to various points through the NS system but on occasion you can find a couple of scheduled freights diverted onto the line when the Harrisburg line is congested. The Turkey Path offers some photo opportunities due to Dyers quarry.

On any given day you would expect to see approx. 1-2 trains on the Turkey Path.

The Turkey Path is accessed by taking route 422 east to I-176 then taking 724 east. The track runs mainly along route 724 so there are plenty of places to get some good shots.  Alternatively, take route 724 west and make first right on Poplar Neck road. Tracks are visible from this location and both single track main and Turkey Path are accessible from bridges by auto body shop. See map for directions.
